Ramadan Day 1

The first of Ramadan is comming to an end here in the UAE. I slept in this morning and went to work late as I was up most of last night working on the blog. As soon as I was on the road today I started noticing things that could be related to ramadan and I had forgotten my camera at home. Inshallah tomorrow I will keep my camera with me to share some pictures from the UAE. Traffic was more then usual in the morning and by the time I was heading back around Iftar time the roads were quite empty, probably due to the change in office hours. Most of the restaurants were sold out of Samosas, Jaleebis, Pakoras and the other usual ramadan stuff well before the iftar time. Here in the UAE restaurants sell and serve almost all the usual stuff you might get back home in Pakistan. The typical Iftari for people who eat at restaurants is a glass of Juice (usually Rohafza), a couple of dates, some pakoras and assorted cut fruit, I had'nt reached home so I had that on the way. Most restaurants do not charge customers for the small plate of iftari and juice they serve.

Picture: Morning traffic opposit the Dubai Airport I felt it was more than usual both ways.

Pakoras is a must in our family during Ramadan. Although now we are chilling on that. It really is a terrible thing to eat after one day of fasting, healthwise...

DR: Ramadan Kareem!

SS: Is there a feel of Ramadan in Sweden like India, Pakistan or for that matter Dubai?

Well there is definitely a diferent spirit in teh air, I think ramadan brings that even if one is in Alaska.

having said that, it cannot be compared to being in Pakistan, Syria or any other place where a majority is partaking in fasting. Hence the need for me to sit here and create Ramadan banners and polls for the blog! lol

SS: You and your team are doing a good job. It's evident in this blog coupled with your moderate thoughts.

DREB
1 down 28/29 to go eh!
Myself I was glad it started out on sat, for the simple reason first day one generally feels a bit out of sorts, adjusting to the no CHAI in the morning, and doing the morning pick/drop getting kids ready for school gets a bit cranky inducing.
As for pakoras, nothing like it , but seeing how my ulcers go ballistic I have put a ban on all the pakora samosa stuff except for weekends.
Which thankfully suits everyone fine, and I dont get to hear any whining!
