Gajerela or Gajer Halwa?

This has to be my all time favourite Pakistani dessert. Proof that you don't have to have desi blood to create something as yummy as this; my Swedish mother made this lovely dish. I'm confused about the name though. I have called it Gajerela, but now been told that this is Gajer Halwa and Gajerela is the dish made with lots of milk.

Gajer means carrot in Urdu. The dish is made with carrots, cashew nuts, raisins, cardemum, butter, little bit of milk, sugar and mom's secret touch of shredded coconut. We often eat this during Ramadan.

Yummy Havent had either Gajar halwa or gajrela in a long time, me thinks i should have some soon.

Yum Yum Yum ... well if anyone's mom can make as delicious gajrela and gajar ka halwa, both, as mine then both are mind blowing ... :)

Gajar ka Halwa!!!! yummy!!.....it's always so tasty. Here, the season for the dish is winter as carrots come in that season. But all of a sudden I've started to want Gajar ka Halwa now, with autumn. Can't wait for the good winter times to start to reap the carrot crop and eat Gajar ka Halwa :) .

You must be having a good time in Ramadan, having the dish at Iftar and Sehr. :)
